Ah Fook July Tour of duty

July in NYC, another nice summer weather.
Well.... let start off with my food diary. Here are some of my latest food collections..... haha.....



Cake club. Every week, our lab has a cake session. Where we need to bake a cake to share.


Now secretly, I am working on my cake... I have no idea how to make one.... and Diana has a rule that cake club cannot buy cake... he/she has to make one... .stress

I tried my Ice cream cake at home... it is a mess... need to experiment with it more.
My new home in Greenwich hotel. As my temp house is going to be lease out to a new visitor, I am homeless. I have been going around looking for home. And David found a nice place for me to stay in starting in 1 August. Hence, now I need to stay in a hotel for a month.


It is a cosy place, a bit noisy at night, but bearable....

I have a friend, Sherry Tay coming to visit me in NYC this summer:) Very nice of her to accompany me!



Hudson river, one of the busy river in NYC. That brings life to the city. It is a nice river and a refreshing walk.

Here is a one environmental friendly experiment.

The good old times square. The place where people who come to NYC must visit.


I have go and try the best cheese cake in NYC. It is giantic cheese cake, that will melt your taste bud. The food in this resturant is hug... U should come and see for yourself. how big is big....... Americans really can makan! I bring my friend Sherry to try it out and end up both of us have to skip dinner after a slice of cheese cake each.




I also go to visit the disney shop. It is a nice shop. Those who love soft toys and disney should come and see.

Ah Fook in central park. Summer is here and central park is packed with people enjoying the summer sun and heat. There are also free concerts playing live music and dances. A nice place to be in summer.

Ah fook first 4th of July

4th of July, Independence Day!
Today is independence day in USA. The whole of New York is almost closed for this occassion. Everybody is on holiday mood. And everybody is welcoming this mid-week break. Hence, i also took the time off and go over to brookyln side of NYC.

Manhattan Bridge is one of the link between Manhattan and Long island. It is a bridge that has both vehicle and train access. It is really a magnificant bridge.

Brooklyn bridge is one of the most famous bridge in New York. I still remember clearly in most spiderman movies and comics, spiderman usually sits or hang on top of it looking back at the skyline of Manhattan. And indeed, it is a nice bridge with wonderful view ....

For 4th July, the most beautiful event that one must not miss is the Macy fireworks. And this is where I will be for the night to wait for the great Macy's Fireworks. The fireworks that is the largest in the world.... lighting up the whole of NYC at different portion at the same time. The whole show lasted 30 minutes.... with millions of people gathering near the East river to view this spectacular.

The night scene is wonderful. The lightings glimmers like stars.... and it is really a good spot. There are many professional photographer here since 1pm in the afternoon to get the best position.



The camera i have is lousy. There are large noise in my photos. Hence, i will need a good camera soon.

Food for July the fourth. Well ... feel like in the mood to celebration, so went to get some nice meat and learn to cook steak and pork chop.



On the way home, I meet two new friends from Japan. They are nice ladies who are a bit lost after the show, so I walk them to the nearest train station.



I also received a present from my boss. He bought me a good Mac Pro. Top of the line computer with 2 Intel Duo Core processor 2.66 and 256 Video ram. Coming with the computer is a mac screen 20". I am impressed.
I will need to produce good work for the good treatment I am getting.

Ah fook survived One month in USA

Ah Fook has been in USA for a month and he has also gotten his first pay. It is good feeling to get your first pay.
It has been a long while since I have seen a pay cheque. Working here is very much different from Singapore. I am still trying to find my path.

For safety and preventation of identity thief, I have cover all important information of my first cheque.
With money, surely must get food to treat myself... haha.....

Went to Japan town to get some nice sushi and some fruit desert. And then I cook my vege and some noodles for a nice dinner to treat myself.

Tried more interesting food combinations, because i need to clear my fridge.

I have no name for all these dishes, they look good and taste good.... hehe....


Summer is a place for shopping. The American "BaSa Malum" is really nice. They close down a few streets to set shop and have loads of different items for sales. The feeling is very different from Singapore.



Although I would really want to get myself a DSLR, I guess I will have to wait for a few more cheques first before I can pamper myself with that.
I am still short of cash, because I still got a rent, bills and next month food to cover. And I am planning to start dance class soon.

Weekends and evening in Summer, there are many people playing sports and enjoying the warm of the sun. In Singapore, people hide from the sun, here people love the sun. So interesting.....
